Starting Atrium was a bet on himself: the chance to go after opportunities that didn’t fit another firm’s mandate, and to choose both the projects and the people he works with. Matthew stays personally involved in the details, including underwriting, because that’s where the patterns that lead to a new strategy tend to show up. As the firm’s principal, he leads its investment strategy and advisory work, staying close to every asset from first look to final disposition.

Matthew came to real estate from investment management, and has since led acquisitions, development, asset management, and capital markets transactions across industrial, office, residential, hospitality, and mixed-use. His career began at Forest City Enterprises and Archstone, followed by a role as Head of Development & Acquisitions at Time Square Development, originating more than $400M in transactions and leading large, complex urban developments. Since founding Atrium, he has acquired industrial and office assets on the firm’s own account and advised other sponsors on more than $100M in capital.

He holds an MS in Real Estate from NYU, and an MBA and BS in Finance from Bentley University.
